2007 Vintage

The 2007 growing season was cool & wet The Fall wet conditions & cool weather provided difficult choices for the harvesting of our Pinot Noir grapes. The Brix numbers were several degrees below our 2006 harvest. Fortunately, we did get some dry days which allowed us to get in our crop before ther return of wet conditions. The conditions presented this year were representative of vintages of the late 1990's which produced outstanding wines of great finesse and balance.

Winemaking

At Vercingetorix Pinot Wines we are best known for making estate grown single vineyard Pinot Noir. We make our Pinot Noirs with the objective to make wines that balance finesse, intensity, and elegance. Our Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris wines are made utilizing old world winemaking techniques such as hand sorting, open top fermentation, and hand punch downs. All of these techniques promote elegance and finesse in the finished wines. We age our Pinot Noir in French & American oak barrels, which contributes subtle and graceful notes of cinnamon, pepper, vanilla and toffee. Our 2005 Pinot Gris is a marriage of vibrant berry & citrus flavors.

Our 2004 VX Vercingetorix Pinot Gris was awarded an “88” by the Wine Spectator in the January 2007 edition of their magazine.
